Faculty of Engineering Undergraduate Scholarships 2011 Entry
For students entering the Faculty of Engineering* departments:
- Architecture and Built Environment
- Civil Engineering
- Chemical and Environmental Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering
* The scholarship applies to all Faculty of Engineering courses except the following: BArch Architecture, DipArch Architecture, MEng Architecture and Environmental Design, & BA Sustainable Built Environment
Undergraduate Engineering Scholarships 2011 entry
Top Class Entry Scholarships
For UK and EU students
In recognition of academic excellence, you will be awarded a one off payment of £1,000 if you start an undergraduate honours degree programme within The Faculty of Engineering* in 2011 with A level grades of AAA (equivalent performance in alternative qualifications such as IB or BTEC will also be considered).
In order to qualify for the scholarship, you will need to have made The University of Nottingham your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process.
If you are progressing from the Faculty of Engineering’s foundation year with a pass mark of 80% or more, you are also eligible for the £1,000 award.
Students progressing from a foundation year at any other institution within the HEU category, with a high IB score (or equivalent) may also be eligible for this award. Each case will be considered individually against The University of Nottingham guidelines.
The scholarship will be paid automatically to you during the spring semester. You do not need to apply.
Notes on eligibility
- Only available to students who make The University of Nottingham their first (firm) choice at the appropriate time within the UCAS application process.
- Based on the three A levels in your offer from UCAS.
- Students registering on degree programmes jointly offered by Faculties outside Engineering are not eligible. Only available to students who commence their studies in in the Faculty of Engineering (UK) in 2011 are eligible for the scholarship
- direct entry students commencing their studies in the Faculty of Engineering in 2011 will receive the 2011 Entry Scholarship
- students deferring their entry to the Faculty of Engineering to 2012 will be eligible for the 2012 Entry Scholarship (terms may be different from those in 2011).
International Engineering Scholarships
For international students
If you are an international student starting an undergraduate honours degree programme within The Faculty of Engineering* in 2011, and meet the eligibility criteria outlined below, you will be awarded £1,500.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, you will need to have made The University of Nottingham your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process.
If you receive the award in your first year (2011), you will also be entitled to £1,500 in your 2nd, 3rd and 4th years. This is conditional upon you passing the previous year with an overall average of 55% or above, and having satisfactory attendance during the previous year as determined by the Head of Department.
You are also entitled to the award if you transfer from an engineering degree programme at The University of Nottingham, Malaysia and start your studies in Nottingham (UK).
The scholarship will be paid automatically to you during the spring semester. You do not need to apply.

Dean of Engineering’s Outstanding Student Prize
For all undergraduate students
Continued academic excellence will be rewarded. The top students in the Faculty of Engineering* progressing on their course will be awarded the Dean of Engineering’s Outstanding Student Prize. This includes a certificate in recognition of their achievement and £100 prize.
