Uganda is standing the risk of losing instrumental Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson following delays to renew his contract and reports of interest in his services by Ghana Black Stars.
The Ghana football governing body is searching for a national coach to replace Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac who quit after Ghana failed to renew his contract.
Williamson is out of contract with Uganda cranes and his employers the Federation of Uganda Football Association is yet to secure funding it expects from the government of Uganda to ensure the country can retain the services of Bobby Williamson.
The Scotsman has guided Uganda to its best football period in over 30 years, with the country on course to qualify for the African Nations Cup after defeating Angola last week. Williamson has also won two CECAFA trophies for Uganda in his three years I charge and has seen Uganda improve to an all-time high of 63rd place in the FIFA rankings.
While Uganda remains hopeful of keeping Williamson’s services, few will blame the Ex-Hibs and Kilmarnock manager if he opts for Ghana should the black stars be really interested and put a good offer on the table.
