Three men have been arrested in connection with pick pocketing as they followed president Yoweri Museveni convoy in Luwero where he campaigned today.
Central police spokesman Lameka Kigozi says the suspect tended to be following presidential candidate as if they were his supporters yet they actually are targeting committing crimes.
The said suspects were identified as Jimmy Kiseka and Shirraj Mugumwa both residents of Natete and one Kalisa James from wobulezi stoles 500000 shillings from a victim who names have been reserved not to injure investigations.
In a related move, police has warned supporters of the various political candidates from covering their vehicles number plates, saying its illegal and they will be arrested.
Deputy police spokesperson Vicente sekate says culprits will either be taken to court or be issued with expense penalties and be penalised.
Sekate says the incident comes after the NRM supporters covered their number plates with posters of their candidates. He appealed to the general public to be more vigilant during campaign activities to avoid acts of theft or accidents.
