Buganda kingdom has announced that the 2010 Buganda conference will be held December 17th at Hotel Africana to discuss how the kingdom can better achieve development.
The Attorney General of the Buganda Kingdom, Apollo Makubuya who is chairing the organizing committee says the conference is being held under the theme “Poverty and Development in Buganda and Uganda”.
The annual event is aimed at creating a platform for debate and interactions on the Kingdom’s issues and will be graced by the King of Buganda, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
He says this year’s conference will also contain a Youth Forum that will be held on 16th December 2010 to address issues of unemployment among the youth in Buganda and Buganda at large.
According to organizers, the conference is also part of the celebrations to commemorate coronation anniversary for Buganda Kingdom.
The conference organized by Buganda Kingdom and sponsored by Muteesa I Royal University is expected to be attended by over 1,000 people. Each participant has to pay 15,000 shillings to be registered to attend.
The conference will attract key speakers mainly from the Agha Khan Foundation that has helped many people in the Ismailia community to successfully address the issue of poverty. The conference will also be addressed by Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba of Makerere University and REEV Consult International, Professor Ssimbwa also from Makerere University, Professor Elisa Ssemakula and other speakers from East Africa and Europe.
