Fourteen municipalities to benefit from US$150 million grant from World Bank

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and urban planning is set to modernise fourteen municipalities across the country in a move to improve the state of urban centres. The Ministry has got a grant from the World Bank to help it implement the improvement of municipalities.

The municipalities to benefit from US$150 million grant from World Bank include Hoima, Mbale Entebbe Lira Gulu among others.

The permanent secretary in the ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning Sabino Kasigaire says the five year project will scale up urban centre through infrastructure development.

He says the project “improved municipal infrastructure” will go a long way in refurbishing road schools drainage systems in the fourteen chosen municipalities.

Kasigaire adds that the projects will also address environmental and wastage management challenges being experienced in different municipalities.
