The ruling National Resistance movement (NRM) party says it will use dialogue to resolve discontent among its member.
This follows a number of its members who opted to stand as independents after their defeat in party primaries many said were marred by irregularities.
The party’s Secretary General Amama Mbabazi says he party is determined to find a remedy to the issues that caused dissatisfaction among the members.
He says the party has now resorted to dialogue that will last for two weeks instead of forcing its dissatisfied members to return the party membership cards as had earlier been ordered.
Addressing the media at the party’s headquarters, Mbabazi expressed fear that if members go ahead to stand as independent, this would divide the party votes’ giving the opposition parties a chance to beat NRM in the fourth coming parliamentary elections.
President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Chairman of NRM is this evening meeting with NRM flag bearers and losers who are standing as independents at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.
