The Uganda Electoral Commission has announced that it has finalized the process of cleaning the voters register ahead of the 2011 general elections.
The Chairman of the EC, Dr. Badru Kiggundu says after a process of removing names of those who registered twice, the under age and the dead, the EC has now compiled a cleaned voters register that will be used per polling station in the 2011 general elections.
He says a total of 13,954,129 voters have been registered to take part in the elections that will begin on February 18th with the Presidential and parliamentary elections.
Kiggundu who addressed the EC weekly press briefing also said all voters can cross check their names in the voters register at their respective polling stations or online.
He also announced the commission will be able to hold the youth MP and divisional elections next following the passing of a new law by Parliament providing for the EC to hold youth MP elections.
