The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3rd Division Spokesperson Captain Deo Akiiki has on behalf of UPDF thanked the public for their cooperation with army in pacifying Karamoja region.
While giving the end of year message, Akiiki said that people of Karamoja are now focusing on development than before when they would only think of raiding their neighbours for cattle.
Akiiki added that with assistance from volunteers they have managed to reduce the number of arms from Eastern Uganda, which has contributed to peace and stability in the region.
He urged members of the public to be careful while celebrating Christmas because there some wrong elements of people in the region that may be harmful, especially terrorists who have vowed to harm Uganda for its involvement in the African Peace Keeping Mission in Somalia.
