The Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, which is part of The Technical University of Denmark, is seeking a motivated Researcher for a Post-doctoral position. The position is within a new research project aiming at developing techniques for high-throughput, low-temperature testing of metal alloy samples that may exhibit superconductivity or magnetic transitions.
The position is part of a new EC-funded project “Accelerated Metallurgy”, which is based on a new technology allowing high speed production of ternary metallic alloys. About 20 partners are going to test these alloys for various properties. Among those, Risø DTU is expected to take care of the detection of superconducting and magnetic transitions.
Job description
The work will encompass various aspects including design, building and testing of setups for high-throughput testing; selection of ternary phase diagrams of interest based on literature survey; systematic composition-properties studies in selected systems. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the supervision of the activities of students involved in the project.
Qualifications
- PhD degree in Science or Civil Engineering within physics or materials science or equivalent
- Documented experience required in physical characterization of superconducting and/or low-temperature magnetic transitions
- Previous experience with design of equipment for physical properties measurements is an asset
- Ability to work independently and to be a part of a dynamical group
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
We offer
- An exciting and challenging education in an international environment
- Good possibilities for professional and personal growth
- A family friendly organization with flexible working hours.
Terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
Most of the project will be performed at the Materials Research Division at the Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy unit of DTU, situated close to Roskilde. The starting date will be 1 July 2011 or later upon agreement. The position is for a duration of 2 years.
Application
We must have your online application by 15 February 2011. Please open the link “apply online” and fill in the application form and attach your application, CV and a list of publications. Applications should be submitted in English.
