The Deputy chairperson of the Buganda caucus in parliament Hussein Kyanjo has told the commission of inquiry investigating last year’s fire at the Historical Buganda Royal tombs in Kasubi that it was the army that carried out shooting that left three people dead a day after the fire.
Kyanjo produced pictures of security agents who were dressed in civilian attire on the day of the incident.
He also named the head of the military unit colonel Michael Kabango as one of the officers who commanded the forces.
However Kabango yesterday told the commission that he and his members were
outside the perimeter of the tombs at the time of the shooting.
In another development, the head of police Criminal Investigations Department Chris Ochom has also appeared before the commission and testified that they are yet to produce the final report about the fire that burned the royal tombs.
Ochom says no arrest have been made and has not received any feedback from the investigation team assigned to the case.
The investigation team into the March 2010 fire are being coordinated by the officer in charge of crime intelligence Moses Sakira.
