Godfrey Mutabaazi

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has expressed their plans to digitalize all television stations in Uganda by the end of 2011.

The Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi says that it is an international program to have all televisions digital globally.

Technically, Mutabazi says that digital TV broadcast allows efficient utilization of the spectrum where a single channel carries more programs which give room for spared frequencies to be reserved for other services.

He further says that the Commission has set up a transitional procedure from analogue to digital TV broadcasting.

Mutabaazi says The Uganda Broadcasting Council and the Uganda Communications Commission have directed the customs not to allow any more analogue equipment to entering the country.
