He says 96% of Southern Sudanese who voted in Uganda voted for cessation. He says 11,767 voted for secession, 478 for unity, and 54 people left their ballot papers unmarked.

Rev. Saaki told journalists in Kampalathat these preliminary results are only for those who voted in Uganda, with the overall official results to be declared soon by Southern Sudan Referendum Commission in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
It widely expected that the black South voted for independence from Sudan and will soon form Africa’s 54th nation.
