War Child UK was established in 1993 in response to the effects of the Balkans war. Since then, it has continued to work very closely with local communities and other organizations in conflict and post-conflict emergencies to secure immediate and long-term protection for children and young people. War Child UK currently operates in Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Uganda. Since 2007, War Child UK has worked with war affected children, young people and many institutions in northern Uganda based in Pader and currently we are systematically strengthening our presence in Karamoja beginning with Kaabong district in areas of child protection, education, livelihoods and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
With support from our funders, Jersey Oversea Commission (JOAC), War Child UK intends to use part of the proceeds to hire an IT consultant to develop a user-friendly child protection care plan and database for its Uganda programme.
Purpose of the Consultancy
The purpose of the consultancy is to design an electronic user-friendly child protection care plans and database using Microsoft access, for the children benefiting from War Child UK support in Uganda. This will involve review of the various case management tools and existing care plans that are currently in use by War Child UK Uganda programme.
Scope of the Consultancy
To develop and implement an electronic user-friendly child protection care plans and database using Microsoft access
. This includes but is not limited to:
- Database Design which includes data collection and entry tools
- An automatic self-generating Report and analysis
- A time-bound database update and monitoring system
- Train War Child UK staff to use the designed database, including data collection, entry, analysis and general monitoring of data flow procedures and producing automatically generated report(s) to inform programmatic work
Persons Specification
- An IT specialist in Database design and management
- Proven experience carrying out similar assignments with reputable organizations
- Good understanding of child protection case management procedures and principles
- Ability to design a user-friendly database that are gender sensitive
Application Procedure and Requirements
- Letter of interest accompanied with a CV and contacts of 3 referees you have served in a similar assignment
- A sample of similar assignment carried out
- A detailed budget for the assignment billed on a daily basis for the entire period of the consultancy
- A work plan for the entire period of the consultancy
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of child protection case management procedures
