The Pan-African parliament has asked the Western countries not to intervene in the Libyan strife with intentions of ousting President Col. Maumar Gadafi.
Addressing journalists in Kampala on Wednesday, the deputy Chairperson of the Organization Mary Mugyenyi said the mediation of the Western countries (America Britain and France) is necessary if their intention is to deter atrocities on both the rights advocators (civilians) and the fighters of the Libyan government but not ousting Gadafi.
Mugyenyi says it is not yet time to use excessive force as exhibited foreign countries that have been bombing key Libya aerial defense centers. She adds that the United Nations should use diplomatic means to solve the problems in Libya.
Leaders of most African countries including Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni have said that the issues of Libya should be left to the African Union to handle.
