While other opposition stalwarts were arrested and detained at different police stations in Kampala, the Conservative Party (CP) President Ken Lukyamuzi was dragged back to his home in Kabowa while he was found walking on foot to Kampala.
Lukyamuzi who made no resistance to the able-bodied police officers unlike other key demonstrators, was escorted back to his home and kept under watch.
Lukyamuzi was picked at Kibuye roundabout in a group of people he says joined him while he was peacefully walking to his office.
He says the police and the Ugandan government is trampling on human rights when people are denied their constitutional right to carry out a peaceful demonstration.
Ken Lukyamuzi is the Rubaga South MP elect and the Chairman of the Inter-Party Cooperation that fielded Kiiza Besigye of Forum for Democratic Change to challenge President Museveni in the February 2011 elections.
Other victims of today’s “walk to work” demonstration are Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye the President of FDC, Norbert Mao DP President, Wafula Ogutu-MP, Nandala Mafabi-MP and Abdu Katuntu-MP among others.
