Chelsea FC is facing the hugest challenge of the season Tuesday night when they go on the pitch at Old Trafford for the second leg of their Champions League Quarter final match with Manchester United.
The Blues are trailing the Red Devils who beat them 1-0 last Wednesday at the first quarter final clash at Stanford Bridge, with Wayne Rooney’s 24th minute strike proving decisive.
Everything is thee for Chelsea to lose as the Champions league is their only hope of Silverware this season. Chelsea are already trailing United by 11 points in the Premier League.
But Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson refuses to be comforted that his team has as well as qualified for the Semi finals, insisting that Chelsea has the capacity to get a good result at Old Trafford.
He even said Chelsea is “obsessed” with winning the Champions League, and the Londoners will come out with all their might to get a good result from United.
Ferguson is expected to field his strongest team hope his players can match and out muscle Chelsea in every Department to ensure they qualify for Quarter finals and keep alive their hopes of winning the Champions League.
Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti says Chelsea will be playing to win tonight’s game but he has key decisions to make before kickoff, especially with his striking line up.
Ancelotti has kept faith in new record signing Fernando Torres who is yet to score a goal, yet the striker hasn’t blended well with either Didier Drogba or Nicholas Anelka, the key strikers of Chelsea, who themselves have been less than impressive.
But the Blues can count on the memory of their last trip to Old Trafford las season when they defeated Man United 2-1 in the Premier League tie.
The two teams have a lot of respect for each other, and none expects an easy win as they will have to put up their best in the 90 minutes or 120 minutes (should Chelsea be leading 1-0 by end of 90 minutes) to be certain of a place in the semi finals.
