Tree farmers demand 500 million in compensation from National Forestry Authority

Farmer who have been growing trees in the Namanve central reserve have threatened to sue the National Forestry Authority for revoking their license for working there before the expirer of the licenses.

The resolution comes after government demarcated the forestry reserve to pave way for the construction of houses meant for slum dwellers in Kampala without their consent.

The chairperson of the farmers Dacan says the license was supposed to expire 2035 but it was breached last year.

He says they have invested a lot of money in the project, so the government should compensated them with 500 million shillings each farmer.
