Osama Bin Laden death video no where to be seen

Although the United States and many other people around the world continue the celebrate the death of the world’s most wanted man, Osama Bin Laden, there are still some doubts on whether the hitherto invincible Bin Laden is actually dead and or whether he was killed in a US raid.

Man in the news Bin Laden

Bin Laden the leader of Al-Qaeda was reportedly killed in a raid by US special forces on a compound in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad.  Osama is believed to have ordered the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001 that left more than 3,000 people dead, as well as a number of other deadly bombings in different parts of the world.

But the failure to show any video footage of the operation or even the body of Osama has raised doubt in this era of digital technology where one photo might not tell the most credible story.

Only the ABC has released a video it says was shot in the Abbottabad compound but the video shows blood stained beddings and blood on the floor.

However, the US State is reported to be considering releasing photos of the raid and Osama’s body in different states to satisfy all doubting Thomases that indeed the US special operation killed US public enemy number one.

For now, some people are describing as a movie that the US could fly into Pakistan unnoticed by the Pakistan military, carry out the raid, kill Bin Laden and his son, manage to “bury him at sea after a Muslim funeral” and have all their special forces back without injuries.

Monday has witnessed Bin Laden take over internet conversation as many people debated the issues surrounding his death, whether his death is good for America or any country, whether he is dead at all, and what his death if real means to the world.

US President Barack Obama has hailed the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden as a “good day for America,” saying the world is now a safer and a better place.

The US has already updated the list of the most wanted with a simple banner indicating Osama’s current status: “Deceased”.

The State Department says DNA tests carried out after the operation indicated with “99.9%” certainty that the man shot dead was Osama Bin Laden.

Even as happy as many will or are on the death of Osama, some high level of caution is still being observed. “We should be careful not to overreact – this is not an organisation that is one-man deep – this is an organisation that is seeded throughout the world,” says Liam Fox, the UK Defence Secretary.

The US itself has put its embassies around the world on alert, warning Americans of the possibility of al-Qaeda reprisal attacks for Bin Laden’s killing. CIA director Leon Panetta said al-Qaeda would “almost certainly” try to avenge the death of Bin Laden, according to the BBC.

If Osama is dead, there is no doubt he has been a highly talked about figure in his life as in his death. After more than 10 years of hunting for him, he is killed fighting, and the news of his death almost bring down internet sites because of incapacity to handle the traffic.
