The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) National Secretary for Mobilization and Uganda’s representative to the East African Legislative Assembly, Retired Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu has said that Uganda is at risk as people have lost trust in the electoral process.
While talking to the media in Kampala, Muntu said that government should be cautious in a situation people sacrifice their lives in demonstrations without give up. That it is an indication that Uganda is sitting on a time bomb.
The 1989-1997 former Army Commander has condemned the barbaric arrests of the walk to work demonstrators particularly the incident that occurred on his boss Dr. Kiiza Besigye on April 28.
Muntu, who has been silent on the three weeks’ demonstrations, says government has no powers to interrupt peaceful demonstrators.
Muntu adds that government has to appreciate that Uganda is in a multiparty political dispensation, so it is the work of the opposition to bring fundamental issues that are of national interest to the forefront.
The General who has been out of the country for some weeks was seen on Kampala streets yesterday walking on foot from Kololo to parliament without encumbrances.
