Besigye invited for Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President, Retired Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been invited by government to attend his political rival, Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony on May 12 at Kololo airstrip.

Beatrice Wabudeya Minister for the Presidency, says that the function being of national character, government has decided to invite Dr. Besigye and other heads of political parties.

The function is expected to be attended by various dignitaries from different countries.

However, there is a strong likelihood that the FDC boss and other opposition political leaders will not attend the function as they have never accepted the outcome of the February 18 elections that showed Museveni a winner by 68% followed by Besigye at 26%.

Getting Dr. Besigye’s comment was not possible as he  is still in Kenya for treatment after he was assaulted by the government security personnel in the April 28 walk to work protest. He is expected back next week.
