The two most historical Army Generals, Aronda Nyakairima (Chief of Defense Forces-CDF) and David Tinyefunza (Coordinator of Intelligence Agencies) have said that their Police boss counterpart Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura’s forces are still inexperienced.
Gen. Tinyefunza says that Gen. Kayihura’s force constitutes young personnel who are not yet experienced to handle challenging situations.
The Army Generals have condemned the excessive force the police have used in quelling the walk to work demonstrations against the spiraling prices of commodities.
About 11 civilians have been killed in three weeks in the confrontations between the unarmed civilians and heavily equipped police backed by other security agencies.
Aronda has distanced himself from being part of the deployment saying that the Military Police were deployed as a back-up to police and were under command of Gen. Kayihura.
Aronda and Tinyefunza say that a lapse in command was the second factor that worsened the situation a statement that has demeaned Gen. Kale Kayihura professionalism.
