The Prime Minister Prof. Apollo Nsibambi become a subject of debate by parliament which demanded to know where he got powers to order ministers to hand over office before the expiry of their term.
The house chaired by Speaker Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi which sat for a very brief period before adjourning to Tuesday, saw MPs bashing Nsibambi over what they termed as interfering with governance matters.
Led by Mbarara municipality MP Arimpa Kigyagi, the MPs demanded Nsibambi who did not attend parliament to explain in why he ordered ministers to hand over office yet he knows the term of the current government ends on May11.
The MPs wondered why the speaker continues to summon MPs to attend parliament when the executive which is supposed to respond to their queries on the floor has been ordered out of office.
Meanwhile, Government chief whip Daudi Migereko says despite the Nsibambi directive to ministers; all ministers continue to occupy offices and there is no vacuum.
He says the directive to hand over by government has been handled by the executive and that the Ministers’ official exit will be on Midnight of Wednesday before Museveni swears in on Thursday May 12th.
