MPs shocked by Blood transfusion service boss refusing blood

Members of Parliament under the network of African women ministers and parliamentarians have expressed shock over the controversial statements made by the executive director for Uganda blood transfusion services Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune that they do  not need blood.

This followed an offer by Activists for Change, the organizers of the walk to work protests to donate blood on one of the walk to work days.

Addressing journalists at parliament mityana district woman mp Sylvia Namabide said that they were surprised to hear Dr. Kyeyune saying that the country has enough blood and yet the same person was in parliament the previous days saying that Uganda does not have enough blood.

Namabidde says that as women who have been advocating for blood donations do not have any problem with people who walk to donate blood.

She also says that as an organisation they would have loved every Ugandan to donate blood. She however distanced the organisation from any political arrangements to donate blood.
