Civil society organizations have been urged to be transparent in using funds given to them for implementing social and monitoring services in different parts of the country.
The call was made by the chairperson parliamentary Accounts committee Nandala Mafabi while speaking at a civil society dialogue meeting in Kampala. Mafabi says civil society organizations get a lot of money on behalf of the public but hardly make accountability for the money received.
Nandala adds that the Auditor General should be auditing civil society organisations because they receive funds meant for public good.
Mafabi stresses that many civil society have no books of accounts and some of them uses the money for personal interest acquired from donors.
