The Chief Executive Officer for Africa Institute for Energy Governance, Dickens Kamugisha has called for an urgent enactment of a new law on oil and gas.

Speaking during the orientation of the incoming members of parliament on oil and gas legislation, Kamugisha says that many things in the oil industry are not going on well simply because of an outdated law currently in place.

He says that the new law should be put in place in order to encourage the public to demand for information for them to know what the government and the companies in the industry are doing.

Kamugisha called upon members of parliament to use their powers and put to task government to ensure that the bill is tabled in parliament.

He also pointed out the system of government in Uganda as the biggest challenge affecting legislation in the country.

Kamugisha says that due to party influence many legislators tend to forget the peoples demand and decide to serve the party which is dangerous as Uganda is entering oil and gas industry.
