Police have blocked opposition politicians from addressing a rally at the Constitutional Square in Kampala.
The politicians said they wanted to address Ugandans about the current state of the nation and the sky rocketing commodity prices.
They included Democratic Party President, Nobert Mao , UPC leader, Olara Otunu , former Presidential Candidate , Samuel Walter Mukaaku Lubega, JEEMA’s Kibirige Mayanja and Salam Musumba among others.
The opposition leaders together with their supporters had set off from Uganda House heading to the Constitutional Square but Police intercepted them on the way and dispersed them.
However some of them who included DP’s Norbert Mao, Kibirige Mayanja and Eddie Yawe soldiered on until they were sprayed with a coloured chemical to scare them away.
DP leader, Norbert Mao and Kibirige Mayanja tasked the Police officers led by the DPC of CPS, Norman Musinga to explain why they were blocking them from accessing the Constitutional Square yet it is for Ugandans.
Journalists who were covering the event were caught up in the melee and some of them fell victims of Police brutality.
The DPC of CPS, Norman Musinga asked Kampala traders to ignore the opposition and concentrate on their businesses.
