The minister of local government   has directed all district chairpersons and Mayors to halt with immediate effect the process of creating new sub county, parish and villages.

According to the secular that was signed by the minister of local government Adolf Mwesigye, creation of new administrative units and town councils should be halt until further notice.

Adolf Mwesige says this process will be revived until the results of the national census scheduled2012 are published.

The districts and other lower administrative units has been  created as a result of pressure by voters suiting to 112 by 2010 causing a financial implication and requiring human resource to effectively  manage them.

The minister sys mach as local government units are springly up reputedly to bring service nearer to the people, district councils have to ensure the newly created local council governments are functional and adequately perform their mandate.

He said government is in the process of reviewing the local government administrative structures to rationalizing them so they can contribute to the to the current and future development objectives of the country.
