Besigye arrived at Entebbe airport shortly after 9am aboard Kenya airways, and was received by some opposition leaders who were cleared by the police to welcome the opposition leader.

Besigye was returning from Kenya where he went on treatment for multiple injuries he sustained from scuffles with police as he was being stopped to walk to work. He came back with his wife, Winnie Byanyima.

The police cleared several opposition leaders to meet with Besigye at the VIP lounge, including Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu, FDC Secretary Alice Also, Bugwere County MP Abdu Katuntu, Jack Mamai, Wafula Ogutu and Beatrice Aywar.

Besigye is expected to be led to Kampala by police and his supporters. He is expected to attend prayers at Nsambya playgrounds.

The opposition says they are praying for people injured in the walk to work protests, but the police see they are keen to ensure the opposition activities do not interfere with the swearing ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni at Kololo airstrip.
