The member of parliament for Buliisa county Stephen Mukitale Birahwa has asked the inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate the alleged mismanagement of the fraudulent acquisition of oil wells land in Buliisa by one Francis Kahwa.
He said that Kahwa illegally surveyed 30 square milos of land which has nine wells of oil in Buliisa out of 16 oil wells in the this district.
He said that the IGG , parliament and government should ensure that the oil land is not grabbed by few individuals to avoid the possible oil curse in the country.
Addressing journalists at parliament, Mukitale also accused some top leaders in the district including the LC5 chairman and RDC, DISO and DPC of what he termed as conniving with oil speculators who are grabbing land in the district.
Mukitale also welcomed the creation of the Bulisa Desk in the ministry for Lands and he said that this desk will go a long way in addressing the land problems in the district, however requested that this desk should be stationed in Buliisa where he said that the district land board is incompetent to handle land issues.
He says there is need for government to find funds to facilitate planning and titling of land in Buliisa so that those who intend to buy this land can buy small plots as opposed to buying square miles as it is the case presently leaving locals without land.
