Mob justice worries police in Fort Portal

Fort Portal police is overwhelmed by the wave of mob justice that has left at least four people dead in 24 hours.

Police have launched investigations into the murder of four people and this is the first of its kind to be registered in Fort Portal.

One only identified as Sunday a resident of Ntebi village in Kijura town council Kabarole district was on Monday 16th May at murdered by his colleagues who intercepted him armed with pangas, slaughtering him to death following a misunderstanding at a drinking joint.

On the same day, Joseph Byamukama a resident of Kasokero village in Kabende parish was beaten to death by an irate mob armed with machete and sticks accusing him of being a habitual thug terrorizing the residents by stealing goats.

On 16th May Rogers Mugume of Ntebi village also in Kitura town council was killed by an irate mob that suspected him to have participated in the murder of his village mate only identified as Sunday.

16 year-old boy Patrick Agaba a resident of Kisomoro in Bunyangabu County was the fourth victim in spate of murder after he was attacked and assaulted by his colleagues at a disco party.

Agaba was later rushed to a nearby health center where he died shortly.

The western region police spokesman Bakari Muga who condemned the act of people taking the law in their hands said that police is to make investigations and arrest everyone proven guilty.
