Heads of tertiary and technical institutions from the common wealth member countries are meeting in Kampala to find ways how they can improve the institutions in Africa.
The international conference on enhancing skills development in the tertiary and vocational institutions is being hosted by Makerere University business school.
The MUBS principle Waswa Balunywa has asked government to put more money in these institutions so that people can create their own jobs rather than seeking for them.
Balunywa says most of the big construction work in the country which would have been done by Ugandans is now being worked on by foreigners who have the technical skills.
Balunywa says apart from government supporting these institutions, there is need for career guidance among the students.
