The African Network for the Prevention and Protection of Children Against Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN)has appealed to the Government to intervene and arrest the plight of children resulting from the high price of commodities.
The Program coordinator for the Research, Information and Advocacy Timothy Opobo says many children have become collateral damage in the on going escalating food and fuel prices.
He says children going to school especially in UPE are dropping out because they cannot afford food, there is an increase in domestic violence, and more children are flocking to the streets, and are experiencing deterioration in their health status.
Opobo also says that ANPPCAN is making intervention in Kitgum district which is one of the hardest hit districts by partnering with Kitgum Women Peace Initiative and Concerned Parents Association by initiating a program.

ANPPCAN has urged Gov’t to seriously consider providing food to children at school, review the prices of fuel and consider supporting families that are economically disadvantaged.
