Over 2.6 million Children malnourished in Lango region

A survey carried out by African network for prevention and protection of child against neglect (APPCAN) Uganda chapter has reviled that 44% of household in Acholi region are affected by food insecurity.

In a reported released at their office Headquarter in Kampala indicated that 2.6 million children are malnourished due to poor feeding. The report also showed that about 7 million Ugandans are under chronicle poverty which has led to famine in the region.

The report further reviled that 43% of the household experience food shortage at least every three months because of climate changes.

The survey also saws 68% of families in Acholi region don’t earn enough money out of their income generated from activities they do to meet their basic needs. It further reviled that most of government programs like NAADS are drafted by government officials who embezzle the funds intended for the program.

According to the officer in-charge of information, timothy Opobo and Haruna Mawa says increase in fuel and commodity prices has also led to increased school fees which will hamper parents from sending their children to school.
