The appointments committee of parliament has been fully constituted with members from major parties such as FDC, UPC and DP joining.

The members from the NRM party include Patrick Nakabaale (Central youth), Sofia Nalule (Disabled National), Mathias Kasamba (Kakuuto County), Rose Najjemba (Gomba County), Muwuma Milton (Kigulu South), Saleh Kamba (Kibuku County), Christine Amongin Aporu (Kumi), Alepa Peter (Moroto Municipality), Hood Katuramu (Disabled West), Fred Omach (Jonam County), Rebecca Otengo (Lira district), General Elly Tumwine (Army), Victoria Rusoke (Kabarole district), Kasirivu Atwooki (Bugangaizi West) and Paula Turyahikayo (Rubabo County .

Opposition MPs on the committee are Nandala Mafabi of Budadiri west from FDC and opposition leader, Achan Betty also of FDC party, Sebuliba mutumba of DP, Mathias Mpuga and Rose Nyakikongoro both independent.

The Speaker and deputy speaker are both members of these committee by virtue of their positions as leaders of Parliament.

The committee’s responsibility is to approve all the appointments made by the president, and its first task will be to approve the new members of the cabinet.
