Farmers in Ibanda town council have rejected poor quality farm inputs that were supplied to them under the NAADS program.
The rejected faarm in puts include 20 heifers , 32 she goats, 20 piglets and 130 chicks. The farmers accuse the NAADs procurement committee of conniving with suppliers to swindle NAADS money.
Eridadi Buchirolo one of the affected farmers from the Kyaruhanga ward says they were given poor quality oats and piglets.
He further explained that the poor goats and piglet bread wee valued at 200000 shillings and 100000 shillings respectively. Buchiliro says similar goats goes to 50000 shillings at an open local market in Ibanda town council. Buchiliro has therefore threatened to write to the president about the matter.
Another farmer only identified as Mzei Nathanalie Bitaliho accuses the Towm council officials of trying to exploit the poor.
Donati Bwalitware the Ibanda district NAADS coordinator was present when the farmers rejected the inputs and said the poor quality in puts be returned back to the suppliers.
But Ivodi Mugisha the LCIII chairperson of Ibanda town council is asking the government to change the process of procurement if they are to eliminate the fake suppliers.
