Police in fort portal municipality Kabarole district has destroyed one acre of opium and arrested its owner one Baguma Robert aged 30.
The police swung into action following a tip off from Baguma’s neighbors in Kasindikwa village, Mugoma Parish, Karambi Sub County some.
Police say Baguma has been supplying opium in fort portal town, the neighboring areas and to students in higher learning institutions citing Uganda Pentecostal University and Mountains of the Moon University.
Police discovered more than five kilograms of dried opium when security operatives mounted a search in his house.
Anonymous sources told police that Kasangaki also sells to other opium smokers are still at large.
