Residents living around the proposed oil refinery construction plant in Kabale parish Buseruka sub-county Hoima district are living in great fear of eviction in a wake of increased scramble for land in the oil lake Albertan region.

The residents claim there is sudden surge in the number of people looking for land within the vicinity of Buseruka and because of this some residents have resorted to selling off their land to rich tycoons for fear of being evicted without being compensated.

One Johnson Wandera a resident of Nyakasinini village in Kabale parish says he has been approached by over five people claiming to be government agents demanding for portions of land to buy.

The residents want government to put a halt all lands transactions in the area. They argue that if uncontrolled, the transactions could lead to land grabbing and eventual dismissal of residents.

Uganda is planning to set an oil refinery after oil prosecuting companies led by Tullow oil confirmed commercially viable oil deposits in the western Uganda Albertine rift valley region.
