Youths in the country are vehemently against the plan by MPs to have tremendous increase in their salaries and allowances which they say is a sign of selfishness.
According to the national chairman of the Commonwealth Youth Council, Kavuma Samuel, MPs should hold on to their plan since the country is under economic crisis.
MPs recently met under closed doors and reportedly agreed to increased their salaries from the current average of 15 million shillings to 19 million shillings, and purchase cars for themselves, each at 190 million shillings per MP
Kavuma notes that this huge money should be used to drive developmental plans in the country.
The Youths say that in case MPs fail to listen to their demands, they are planning to petition the speaker over the same matter.
Kavuma also adds that government should come up with well spelt plans for youths like setting up a youth fund, create more jobs for youths among others steps to drive youths out of unemployment
