Halliburton, one of the oil exploring US-based giant companies has signed a long term agreement with Makerere University for the former to give study and research jobs to the students of engineering at the university.
The beneficiary students will be those pursuing Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geoscience Production and mechanical, civil and electrical engineering students.
Halliburton provides engineering services to various oil companies across the globe and currently employs about 60,000 in 80 countries including Uganda where it has a contract with Tullow and Total.
Halliburton provides services like drilling and well construction, location of hydrocarbons and managing geological data.
The company manager in charge of Europe and Africa, Stanworth says that they have not ascertained the numbers jobs that will be available for the trainees. He adds that recruitment stars in September this year.
The Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Venansious Baryamureba who represented the university at the signing of the agreement says that the collaboration with Halliburton will improve the university’s standard and fame globally.
