Proposed Minister without portfolio appointee Nasser Ntegge Ssebaggala is confident he will be approved by the Appointments’ committee.
Speaking to journalists at parliament shortly after appearing before the committee chaired by parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, Ssebaggala said his approval is a sure case since the president who appointed him has the biggest number of members.
Having missed vetting yesterday, Sebaggala appeared this morning for vetting but unlike his colleagues, he is the only one still on record for spending more time in the committee. Reports emerged that the committee had declined to approve Sebagala because of his criminal record and questionable academic papers.
But Ssebaggala insists that only Museveni has a right to determine whether he serves as minister or not. He criticised MPs and other Ugandans who measure his ability by his inability to speak correct English, saying knowing good English does not mean someone can perform.
Ssebaggala’s vetting had been scheduled for last evening but, because of time constraints, he along with others missed, only to appear for the exercise today Wednesday.
