The business community in Kyenjojo town council has expressed concern over the daily escalating cases of theft despite having security agencies such as police.
Komihimbo Stella a shop attendant in Kyenjojo town council says that at least a member of the business community is a victim every night.
Komihimbo says that the deadly acts might have been encouraged by the opium smoking and unemployed youths that spend their day time on the streets and turn into predators during the night.
Mugume Charles one of the victims who lost properties worth millions recently explains that police’s intervention with a sniffer dog did not yield fruits since no suspect was arrested.
Mugume is uncertain that the heavy night moving trucks might have encouraged the move since some of the stolen merchandize is exported to the neighboring districts.
Mugume calls on the need for security operatives to embark on night patrols and to establish check points at various points to help crackdown of the thieves.
The Kyenjojo police officer in charges Doris Achola says that her office receives an average of four cases of house breaking and animal theft every week.
Achola says that plans are underway for police to intensify night patrols with the help of the army and other security organizations.
