The Archbishop of Church Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi has warned the pilgrimages going to Namugongo Uganda Martyrs shrines against misbehaving during the celebrations of Martyrs’ Day on 3rd June.
Orombi told journalists in Kampala that the people going to Namugongo should not go there for the reasons of drinking alcohol, stealing peoples properties and causing trouble.
He said that the people should go to Namugongo for remembrance of the Martyrs. The Uganda Martyrs were speared, killed and burnt to ash on Kabaka Mwanga’s orders for their strong faith in Christ and God.
The Martyrs day is celebrated annually on June 3 in memory of 30 Christians who died for their faith. The 24 Catholics who were canonised as Martyrs are
