The Uganda National Roads Authority has revealed that construction of Gulu-Atyak high way commences August this year after receiving over 100 US million dollars for the project.
The head of corporate affairs Uganda national authority Dan Alinange says they have received 200 billion shillings from the World Bank and the government of Japan to tarmac the road which is 104 kilometers.
Alinange says that UNRA received 100 million UD dollars early this year for the road construction works but they are a waiting for the completion of the tendering process.
Gulu –Atyak is currently dilapidated and the news of tarmacking the busy road has been welcomed by operators of commercial transporters in the region.
Simon Amajur the corporate affairs manager Zawede business services says the tarmacking of the Gulu-Atyak road will reduce on the time and cost of operation and improve competition
