EAC is in the process of formulating five pillars that will see all leaders of member states promote good governance in their respective nations where all are expected to sign on the protocol soon next month.

This according EAC deputy secretary general of the secretariat Beatrice Kiraso.

She says the move is aimed at clamping down on dictatorship and bad governance among member states’ leaders against their subjects.

Kiraso says  emphasis is on human rights protection and promotion, fighting graft, promoting democracy, setting up a team to oversee elections in member states among others.
