Makerere University has announced free short vocational courses to its former students who have failed to acquire jobs.
The university Vice Chancellor, Venancious Barymureba says that the university wants to equip the old boys and girls with practical knowledge that can make them get instant job or create jobs for themselves.
The Vice Chancellor says that the course to be taught will include; leisure and hospitality, road maintenance, entrepreneurship, small business management and computer repair among others.
Baryamureba says that the students will be required to apply when the university advertises for the vacancies.
He says that it should it should a responsibility of every Ugandan to fight the escalating unemployment problem in the country.
The reports from the Gender and Labor Ministry indicate that every year about 26,000 graduates in Uganda fail to get employed.
