President Yoweri Museveni has advised the cabinet to be careful in executing government programs and handling public funds.
While talking at the swearing-in function of about 71 ministers at State House on June 6, the President told the ministers to use their tongues properly to avoid tarnishing the image of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Museveni warned the ministers against arrogance in public because of the powers they feel they have over other people. He told them to be apologetic whenever they offend the members of the public.
Meanwhile the President asked the Permanent Secretaries who were also in attendance to use their technical know how to handle public recourses. He urged them to advise the ministers where possible.
Museveni urged the Permanent Secretaries (PS) not to accept ministers’ poor plans or bad expenditures saying that if ministers insist on doing something that may backfire, a PS should ensure the minister has appended a signature on a document.
The President warned that he will not hesitate to punish ministers or civil servants who will be cited in corruption cases.
