The US agency for International Development has warned that world worsted food security crisis is continuing in the Eastern horn of Africa.
The famine early warning system network said areas of particular concern were in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania.
It is said the large scale emergency assistance was a gently needed to save lives and treat acute malnutrition in the region. It was stressed that the current humanitarian response was inadequate.
In a statement Fuse net said the Eastern horn of Africa has experienced two consecutive seasons of significant below average rain fall resulting in one of the testers’ years since 1995.
It said crops had failed and local cereals prices remained very high. Fuse Net also said recent nutrition survey suggested that global acute malnutrition remained above 20% in the region and more than 7 million people needed humanitarian assistance.
