Kyenjojo residents call of protest against National Roads Authority

The protest by the local residents at Rugombe Trading centre in Bugaki sub county Kyenjojo district has been called off following the intervention by police and Uganda National Roads Authority officials.

On Monday over 500 locals blocked the fort portal Kampala high way road with a coffin, stones and heaps of soil accusing government of failing to construct road humps to control over speeding vehicles which have claimed a number of lives.

Muga Bakari the western region police spokes person says police swung into action to clear the road so as to allow the normal traffic flow and thereafter a dialog between the angry residents, security operatives, district leaders and the Uganda National Roads Authority was held.

Eng.Mr.Machilian Rubahamya the in charge Uganda National Roads Authority western region said that his office is to construct temporally humps and establish road signs.

The western region police commander who condemned the act of demonstration urged the residents to always seek clarification from their leaders before taking any action.
