The former Vice President, Prof. Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya has asked his successor Edward Sekandi to continue spearheading the program of upland rice growing in the country.
Bukenya says that the project has assisted many Ugandans to improve their incomes and food is no long a big problem.
Bukenya adds that since he started piloting the upland rice project there has been a tremendous reduction in importing rice.
He congratulates Sekandi for having ascended to that office and commends President Museveni for having appointed an experienced and decent person like Sekandi.
The Professor says that for the time he has worked with Sekandi there no doubt he will manage the work of the Vice President.
