President Yoweri Museveni has warned National Agricultural Advisory services (NAADS) against he called abusive mi-emerge of government vision of supporting farmers.
Speaking at the 22nd Hero’s day celebrations in Rwengo district, President Yoweri Museveni said NAADS has introduced a new distension where NAADS money is being paid to NAADS coordinators and service providers other than using existing government officers like sub-county veterinary officers and agricultural officers being paid by government.
He said in 2007 farmers were getting 30% of NAADS money and the rest taken by contractors until they intervene and halted the project.
Mr. Museveni said he will take up the matter to ensure a greater proposonal of NAADS funds directly go to farmers, valley Dams, Classroom blocks and to support various groups. President Museveni says the issue of construction of roads and health centre’s should be left to other sectors of government and focus be put on house hold income.
He said if used well the funds although on pilot scheme will help veterans. Museveni said the ministry of agriculture with this financial year will handle the concerns in most areas.
